About Us

The Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts was established in 1982 at Mysore by the Government of Karnataka on the basis of the recommendations of the Dr. Roerich Committee, setup in 1976. In making their recommendations, the Dr. Roerich Committee was guided by the need for reorientation of Art Education in the state of Karnataka as to make it more responsive to the changing socio-economic environment of the post-independence era. Art Mela

Art Mela-2004 reflected the personality of CAVA, a unique fine arts institution of Mysore. It lay emphasis on the various departments of the college highlighting the young creative talents. Apart from this, the intention of the mela was to have an interaction with the public by offering works of art at minimal prices to encourage having a work of art in every home. The CAVA Mela took place for three days in Oct. 2004. This included an exhibition and sale of students works of art and craft specially made for the mela with a difference. The CAVA library established in 1982 is one of the premier libraries in the field of visual arts which has made phenomenal progress in the field of fine arts education.CAVA’s library comprising 5433 volumes is a special library.
